Seeing God Clearly

Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor Craig Sturm

Other Sermons
We unpack one of the most simple, yet profound statements in all of the Bible—Jesus’ call to purity of heart and the subsequent promise of seeing God in Matthew 5:8. What does it mean to “see God”? What does it mean to be “pure in heart”? How does that impact how we understand our life, the genuineness of our faith, and the single-mindedness of our hearts? These are worthy questions to ponder as we enter into a new year!

Walking with God in Trust

Media, Psalms: Walking With God, Sermons | by Pastor Craig Sturm

Psalms: Walking With God

We continue our series in the Psalms that runs parallel to our series in Romans. Its purpose is to help us learn from the psalmists what it means to faithfully walk with God through the ups-and-downs of life in a world marred by sin. Today, in Psalm 20, we learn the centrality of walking with God in trust at all times—even in our “days of trouble”.

Persevering in Strength and Hope

Media, Sermons, The Living Word 2019 | by Pastor Craig Sturm

The Living Word 2019

Today is the first of five fall sermons in a series we are calling The Living Word, based on Hebrews 4:12, in which God’s Word is described as ”living and active.” His Word is alive and changes lives. To demonstrate this we asked five pastors, and leaders, to share a passage the Lord has been using in their lives to convict, comfort and/or challenge them. Our hope is to show the living nature of God’s word today and, in turn, be moved to study it, trust it, and immerse our lives in it. Today, Pastor Craig kicks off the series with a message from 1 Corinthians 15:58.

Courageous Faith

Esther, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Craig Sturm

Esther

Today we continue our series through the Old Testament book of Esther. This is the (true) story about the potential extinction of the Jews during the Persian empire, and God’s hidden hand through an unlikely heroine. Esther has all the ingredients of a great story: complex characters, an evil villain, perilous danger, suspense, irony, surprise reversals, humor and a happy ending. But, even more important than its literary value, are its insights into how to find our way amidst our pluralistic world today—a world that is surprisingly a lot like Esther’s.
