God is writing this letter, through Jude, to warn against the false teaching that had crept into the church and remind believers to stand firm in the faith; to stand firm in the Gospel and the authority of Jesus Christ. Last week, we looked at verses 1-2 and unpacked our identity as Christians as one of being called, beloved, and kept. Rooted in that identity, in verses 3-4, we’ll see that Jude’s call for us to contend for our faith is as relevant today as it was when it was originally written.

The Bible describes God as an all-good, all-powerful, just, merciful, and loving creator. How are we to understand our lives in view of this God? Through Psalm 34, David shows us that the fear of the Lord is the posture of heart that we should take to understand our experiences. We can praise God in all seasons and trust him to be who he says he is, which is exactly what we need him to be.
