True Christianity

Acts, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Acts
In Acts 2:40-47, we have the first authoritative description we have of the first Christians. They not only describe what happened but help us examine ourselves. Amidst the cultural confusion about what Christianity actually is, here we get insight into true Christianity. True Christianity is God-initiated, Jesus-centered, and person-changing.

Jesus is Lord and Savior

Acts, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Acts
In Acts 2:14-41, Peter stands up on the Day of Pentecost to preach the first post-ascension, Holy Spirit-empowered Christian sermon to a crowd of unbelieving Jews. Rather than appealing to emotion, Peter directs their attention to the facts of fulfilled prophecy and the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ for the salvation of all who believe.

The Holy Spirit

, Acts, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Acts
In Acts 2:1-13, Jesus’ disciples receive the much anticipated and long-awaited promise of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Here we see the Holy Spirit is new power, that brings a new message and forms a new people. This is instructive for us as a newly forming, Jesus-loving, Spirit-filled people in the city.

Fall Vision Night

Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

God has been exceedingly gracious (Eph 3:20,21) to us as a newly forming Jesus-loving, gospel-centered, Bible-believing people in heart of our great city. We’re growing numerically, people are meeting and maturing in Jesus, more communities are needed, and sin is coming into the light of Jesus’ grace. The demand for more leaders has never been greater. It has been quite an adventure and we have only just started (literally).

Jesus’ Continuing Work

Acts, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Acts
In the opening verses of the book of Acts we learn that Jesus’ mission is historically-true, witness-driven and kingdom-focused. Luke is clear. While his gospel was about what Jesus began to do and teach, this book – Acts – is about what Jesus continues do and teach through His Spirit-empowered people.

Love Incorruptible

Ephesians, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Ephesians

In Ephesians 6:21-24, the Apostle Paul comes to the end of his deeply theology, yet wisely practical, letter to the Ephesians. He does so by touching on the main themes of his letter (grace, peace, faith, love) and calling the church – and us – to “love incorruptible”.

The Armor of God

Ephesians, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Ephesians

In Ephesians 6:10-20, Paul comes to the last major thought unit of his great letter to the church(es) at Ephesus and reminds us that Christianity is a fight. The good news is that Jesus has equipped us with all that we need in this fight. He put down his armor and took your defeat, so that you might take up his armor and take his victory.

The Gospel at Work

Ephesians, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Ephesians

Today, in Ephesians 6:5-9, we look at the work of the gospel and the gospel at work. God wants to redeem and transform all of our lives, not just a portion of them. Therefore, to be a Christian does not merely mean your Sunday schedule changes. Rather, by trusting and treasuring Jesus, you receive new forgiveness, are made part of a new people (i.e. the church), and placed in right relationship with a new, true, God. This naturally results in redeemed marriages (5:22-33), redeemed families (6:1-4) and redeemed workplaces (6:5-9). The Bible is extremely practical. God is laying out the divine ordering of the most important relationships in our life.

Parents and Children

, Ephesians, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Ephesians

In Ephesians 6:1-5, we move onto the next set of household relationships: parents and children. These relationships (parents to children; children to parents) are the most dynamic, complicated and influential relationships we have. Here, Paul explains that the primary task of parenting is to cultivate a Jesus-centered home and the primary task of children is to honor their parents.
