The Most Mature Thing We Do

Media, Other Sermons | by Bill Clem

Other Sermons
How do we determine maturity? What does it mean to be mature? Is maturity measured by our most mature act or thought? Or, is maturity measured by the most mature thing we continue to do? Or, is maturity just the matter of doing more mature things than immature things? Or, is maturity just a matter of growing older? What exactly are we aiming for? Today the apostle John, in 1 John 2:12-14, invites us to envision maturity as a process … one that might surprise you.

The Power of the Gospel

Media, Other Sermons | by Claude Atcho

Other Sermons
In the church, we are regularly and rightly encouraged to reflect on the Gospel personally and share the Gospel actively. But what happens when we find we have less confidence in the power of the Gospel that we thought? What happens when we are more ashamed of the Good News than we knew? Romans 1:15-16 shows us that the key to these common struggles in the Christian life are remedied when we see the unique power and scope of the Gospel as the power of God.

Let The Word Dwell Richly In Love

Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor Randy Lundy

Other Sermons
Jesus is on a mission. That mission is to form a new and renewed people through his word for his eternal glory. He is bringing these people together into gospel-centered communities who gather regularly to teach, admonish, and sing. As we explore the corporate means of grace that Paul outlines in Colossians 3:16-17, we will see that much more is at stake when we gather as God's people than we might have thought. In fact, it is just as the Word of Christ dwells richly in us gathered, that we can then be scattered into the world as ambassadors of grace and the gospel.

The Gospel, Good Works, and the Unborn

, Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Other Sermons
The third Sunday of January has become known as the national Sanctity of Human Life day to coincide with the January 22nd, 1973, Supreme Court decision known as Roe v Wade. That decision removed every state law that previously protected humans in their mother’s womb and made abortion legal in all 50 sates. However, to be emphatically clear, this isn’t merely about politics but is ultimately about God. This morning, we’re going look at how the gospel of Jesus moves and motivates us to a life of good works through Titus 3:3-8, and then consider the implications this has in our defense of the unborn.

Beholding The Glory Of The Lord

Media, Other Sermons | by Pierce Martin

Other Sermons

We are all living our lives in awe of something. Whether we realize it or not, whatever thing we hold in awe has a tremendous shaping influence on us. In 2 Cor 3:17-18 Paul describes the glory of God and the work of the Spirit as we behold His glory, and are transformed into who God created us to be. We have only two options: either we are attaching our sense of well-being to earthly treasures and our own glory, or we attach it to the King of Glory himself, the God to whom all lesser glories point.

The Sanctity of Human Life

Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Other Sermons
This week is Sanctification of Life Sunday, and we take a brief break from the Mark series on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade to take a deeper look at abortion. Not just a merely political issue, we discuss what God says about what it means to be human, the beginning of human life, what abortion really is, and how the gospel shapes our response.

How the Surpassing Worth of Christ Shapes our Future

Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor David Parker

Other Sermons
When it comes to the future most of us like the idea of being at a future destination, but we don’t necessarily like the process of getting there. It’s the prize that motivates us to persevere to push on. What we unpack this morning in Philippians 3 is that the same attitude is true with our spiritual journey. We often can envision ourselves at a future reality, a better place, but how do we get there? More importantly, how does knowing the surpassing worth of Christ instruct us and guide us on that journey?

How the Surpassing Knowledge of Christ Shapes our Past

Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor David Parker

Other Sermons
We all have a past, it’s unavoidable. Everyday we make decision in light of what we believe is true, and what will often bring us the most joy and happiness. But we can also hold onto our past, live in fear of our past, or live trying to make up for the past. The only way we can let go of and put our past in perspective, is by letting the surpassing worth of knowing Christ, His righteousness, His suffering, and His resurrection, shape, and interpret all of our past success, failures, and the failures of others. Today Pastor David Parker uses Phillipians 3:7-11 to guide us in our understanding of knowing Christ's power in our lives.

What is Baptism?

, Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Other Sermons

Jesus commands us, in the great commission to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20. Where did Christian baptism originate? What is its meaning? How is it to be done? Who is it for? Today we are going to see that Christian baptism is far from an empty religious ritual, but an outward expression of a personal commitment to Christ.

The Cornerstone

Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Other Sermons

This morning we gather to thank Him for all He has done and ask Him to do even more in the year(s) to come. In light of our birthday, let’s revisit God’s intention and vision for his church, universal and local, from 1 Peter 2:4-10. What do you think of when you think of the local church? What is it? Why does it/we exist? What is God’s purpose for it? Why are we continuing to move ahead in the planting of a new church downtown?
