Joshua meets the commander of the Lord’s army, as a reminder of God’s presence and a call to continuing faithfulness, so that they might flourish in God’s promised land.

Today we begin a new series in Joshua, which details God’s faithfulness to his promises. Israel, as God’s people, stand on the edge of the promised land, with Joshua as their new leader, ready to take possession of their inheritance. Yet before they can do so, they must know that God is with them as they face the battles ahead. We, too, need God’s presence, which is ours in Christ, to live new lives.
